Astronomy Adventure – Mercury Transit

Last Monday, Mercury transited the Sun, an event that only happens 13 or 14 times a century. Trees and early clouds prevented any photos of the early part of the transit but things cleared off when the innermost planet was almost halfway through its journey in front of the Sun. As the transit began to end, however, a thin layer of clouds moved in; not enough to prevent photos but dimming the images considerably.
