Government As Farce
If it wasn’t so damaging and destructive, the Trump administration would be farce. Or one tremendous troll:
Item: Mitch McConnell actually writes these words, “for the first time in memory, a minority has exploited procedure to systematically obstruct a president from staffing up his administration”. Merrick Garland just puked.
Item: Bill Barr, the man still withholding the Mueller report from Congress and the American people believed that “the predicate for investigating the uranium one deal, as well as the foundation, is far stronger than any basis for investigating so-called ‘collusion'”. FYI, we are still waiting to see the entire Warren Report on the JFK assassination.
Item: Supreme Court Justice thinks it’s OK to revert to hanging as a means of execution. What does he think about the guillotine?
Item: The boss of the whistleblower who exposed the scandal around security clearance decisions being overridden by the White House for no apparent reason and who suffers from a form of dwarfism “repeatedly altered her office environment… such as physically elevating personnel security files out of her reach.” These are sick people.
Item: Trump administration actually had a plaque installed on a southern border wall that commemorates “completion of the first section of President Trump’s border wall”. There is no first section or any section of Trump’s border wall.
Item: As domestic terrorism increases under Trump, DHS disbands its domestic terrorism group. Only makes sense if you want more domestic terrorism.
Item: As more and more refugees flee the violence in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, Trump cuts aid to those countries. Only makes sense if you want more refugees.
Item: Fox News describes Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras as “three Mexican countries“. WTF?
Item: Trump advisor complains about Puerto Rican government and says the governor is “trying to find someone to take the blame off of him for not having a grid and not having a good system in that country”. After being corrected, he went on to call Puerto Rico “that country” again. Ignorance or racism?
Item: Trump says Puerto Rico has already received $91 billion in aid. $91 billion was the estimated amount of damage the island had received from multiple hurricanes. In fact, the island has received just $11 billion of the $41 billion already allocated for its relief. Ignorance or racism?
Item: GOP Representative Mark Green declares the scandal around the handling of security clearances a nothing burger, saying, “It’s not like classified emails being on an unsecured server…There are problems with security clearances – but not this one”. The White House stopped even doing credit checks on prospective employees. Hard to believe a handful of classified emails showed up on Hillary Clinton’s email server and we spent an entire presidential campaign totally focused on that issue.
Item: GOP Representative Jim Jordan accuses Elijah Cummings of releasing “cherry-picked excerpts from one witness”. Anyone remember Devin Nunes?
Item: The Senator Trump taps to lead the effort to create a GOP health care plan that will have to wait until after the 2020 election to be released was the chief executive of the company that engaged in the largest Medicare fraud in history at the time it was charged. Yes, the party of healthcare.
But my absolute favorite item: Trump nominee for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board is a tax cheat and a deadbeat dad, in addition to being a total partisan hack, wrong in every economic prediction he’s ever made, and intent on being a disruptive force. Moore, of course, is one of the architects of the Kansas experiment that decimated that state’s economy and fiscal condition.
Donald Trump is President. Case closed.
We are so thoroughly screwed.
Amazing article, depressing but good!
