Astronomy Friday – Crab Nebula

Messier 1, the Crab Nebula, is the remains of a supernova that was recorded by Chinese astronomers in 1054 and was bright enough to be seen even in daylight at that time. The neutron star created by that supernova event is one of the strongest gamma ray sources in the sky.
